The new embedded motherboard pITX-E38 is based on the ultra compact 100 mm x 72 mm Pico-ITX form factor and is characterized by high graphics and processor performance with low power consumption. Intel Atom CPUs from the E3800 series are used which are perfectly adapted to the consistent low-power design of the board and consume just a few watts of power. In addition, the pITX-E38 offers numerous hardware-based security features, such as the platform-independent middleware KEAPI that enables standardized access routines for hardware resources and thus facilitates porting which leads to shorter development times. Another plus is the extended temperature range of -25°C to +75°C for use in demanding environments. For this purpose, numerous interfaces have been adapted, such as the lockable 5V DC power supply plug for complex industrial applications. Kontron announced a long-term availability of up to seven years for the Pico-ITX motherboard pITX-E38.
Despite the smallest motherboard form factor of 2.5" the pITX-E38 provides abundant amenities: next to the mPCIe slot which can optionally be used for mSATA drives, a bootable slot for microSD cards stands out above all. There are also numerous connections such as USB 2.0 and 3.0 as well as Gigabit Ethernet and SATA 2.0 for peripherals. The board can be equipped with up to 8GB DDR3 RAM and also offers onboard HD Audio support.
