The integrated AMD Radeon™ HD 7000 series graphics has the same potential as a dedicated graphics card. It provides accelerated processing functionalities and outstanding graphics options. Up to four displays can be operated simultaneously - either independently of each other, or as a split display (video wall). This makes the new Kontron KTA70M/mITX the ideal solution for all rich media applications with medium to high requirements for use in vertical markets like medical technologies, industrial automation, gaming and digital signage.
The new Kontron embedded Mini-ITX motherboard KTA70M/mITX offers scalable performance, from soldered dual core to quad core APUs. The performance per watt ratio is well balanced. It is ideally suited for applications with high thermal requirements at low power consumption, e.g. in gaming or medical technologies. It also allows for innovative digital signage applications with resolutions of up to 4096 x 2160 pixels. Immersive user experience on a high level is guaranteed even at a short distance to the display. Developers benefit from accelerated processing capabilities of up to 426 APU GFLOPs of the APU for applications with high graphics and computing requirements. They have access to standardized libraries such as OpenCL™, DirectX® 11 and DirectCompute to reduce development times and simplify the design-in process.
Since security is of increasing importance in smart, networked devices, Kontron has integrated into KTA70M/mITX a secure asset management unit which enables hardware-assisted encryption and decryption. This reduces CPU load and power consumption when dealing with protected content, e.g. in gaming or medical applications. The embedded feature connector with analogue-digital converter (ADC) and digital-analogue converter (DAC) of up to 160 GPIOs makes dedicated, individual I/O boards dispensable, leading to a reduction both in cost for additional components as well as in development time. Just like all Kontron embedded motherboards, the Kontron KTA70/mITX module offers long-term availability and high quality by using high-end solid capacitors (POSCAP).
The Kontron embedded Mini-ITX KTA70/mITX motherboard is based on the AMD A70M controller hub and provides up to 16 GB RAM. It is available with quad core AMD embedded R series APUs R-460L (2.0 GHz, or 2.8 GHz in turbo mode), or withR-452L (2.0 GHz, or 2.4 in turbo mode), or with dual core R-252F APU (1.9 GHz, or 2.4 in turbo mode). It offers 3 x DisplayPort (DP) and 1 x VGA. Further displays can be connected via DP “daisy chain” configuration, or optionally via DP extension card. Extension cards available include a 2nd generation PCI express x8 PEG port and a 2nd generation PCI express x4 slot. Numerous peripheral devices and other network options can be connected via 4 x USB 3.0, 10 x USB 2.0 and 2 x GbE LAN. A broad range of storage media is connected via five SATA600 interfaces with RAID 0/1 support and via a mSATA (mini SATA) socket for instant on-board SSDs connection. HD audio and a trusted platform module 1.2 for safety-critical applications complete the offer for embedded motherboards.
