Qseven Module from congatec

The congatec Qseven conga-QA4 module is available in three different processor versions (Intel code name Braswell) for high levels of scalability. They range from the dual core basic 1.6/2.08 GHz Intel® Celeron® N3050 to quad core 1.6/2.4 GHz Intel® Pentium® N3700 processor.

Description

Qseven modules featuring the first generation of Intel Atom processors were in use as early as 2008. Using the new conga-QA4 module, all Qseven applications can now easily and quickly be upgraded to the latest processor technology.

The Qseven module is equipped with up to 8 GB dual channel DDR3L RAM and up to 64 GB eMMC 5.0 for mass storage. More powerful, integrated 8th generation Intel® graphics support DirectX 11.1, Open GL 4.2 and OpenCL 1.2. The data rate required for the new powerful, hardware-accelerated video decoding according to H.265/HEVC standard is 50 per cent less compared to its predecessor version H.264/AVC. Therefore it is able to play 4k videos in real time. Resolutions of up to 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) are supported for DisplayPort and HDMI. In addition, the conga-QA4 module provides a standard 24 bit LVDS interface. This Qseven specification defines an alternative pin-out in which the LVDS interface is replaced with signales for two embedded DisplayPorts. This optional conga-QA4 version can be control three displays independently of each other.

Thanks to the recent standardization of the MIPI-CSI2 camera interface, Qseven can now “open its eyes”. The conga-QA4 modules allows for the direct connection of up to two MIPI HD cameras through the defined feature connector from the Qseven SGET 2.0 specification (addendum). The key advantage of MIPI-CSI2 is the very low cost of the camera modules offered with MIPI-CSI2 interface. This makes the module not only suited for retail applications but also for digital signage and medical technologies. However, these aren’t the only areas requiring highly powerful graphics while at the same time offering good computing performance and passive cooling. Other use scenarios include technical diagnosis functionalities based on optical information; monitoring in the retail business; security functionalities such as occupancy or collision detection; authentication and access control, person and face recognition; optical measuring and counting; assistance systems (e.g. pedestrian or traffic sign recognition in cars), smart lighting systems (e.g. automatic illumination and dipped lights) as well as webcam and intercom functionalities (e.g. video telephony).

Natively supporting USB 3.0, the module guarantees fast data transfer despite little energy consumption. A total of six USB 2.0 ports is provided, one of which supports USB 3.0 super speed. Three PCI express 2.0 lanes as well as two SATA 3.0 interfaces for up to 6 Gb/s allow for instant and flexible system extensions. The Intel® i211 gigabit ethernet controller provides highest software compatibility. I2C bus, LPC bus for easy connection of legacy I/O interfaces and 8-channel sound Intel® high definition audio complete this offer.
