The conga-B7E3 COM Express Type 7 Server-on-Modules (SoM) by congatec are based on the AMD EPYC™ processor series. With up to 52% more commands per clock cycle compared to previous architectures, the AMD EPYC™ is currently the leader in embedded server technologies.
Applications for this board solution can be found, for instance, in industry 4.0, robotics, as well as in virtualized on-premise equipment in harsh environments, to provide functions such as industrial routing, firewall security and VPN technologies, which can even be combined optionally with various real-time control systems and artificial intelligence (AI) based on neural networks. The conga-B7E3 COM Express Type 7 modules feature AMD EPYC Embedded 3000 processors with 4, 8, 12 or 16 high-performance cores, support simultaneous multi-threading (SMT) and up to 96 GB DDR4 2666 RAM in the COM Express Basic form factor and even up to 1 TB in full-custom designs. On a footprint of only 125 x 95 mm, these COM Express Basic Type 7 modules provide up to 4x 10 GbE and up to 32 PCIe Gen 3 lanes. For a storage they integrate optionally even a 1 TB NVMe SSD and provide 2x SATA Gen 3.0 ports for conventional hard drives. Further interfaces include 4x USB 3.1 Gen 1, 4x USB 2.0 and 2x UART, GPIO, I2C, LPC and SPI. Other attractive features for HPC- and AI-applications are the seamless support of dedicated high-end GPUs and the improved floating point performance. congatec also provides fanless cooling solutions for its COM Express Type 7 Server-on-Modules which can be adapted to the processor in question and can even be adapted to the customer's chassis if necessary. This allows OEMs to get the maximum processor performance out of their designs, as this depends on the CPU temperature. Operating systems supported include Linux, Yocto, Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows Server.
